Demolition Derby
2010 Rules & Regulations
The Demolition Derby is open to all drivers. Entries are
open to MEN or WOMEN who have valid drivers license. In the interest of
safety and in fairness to all contestants, the following rules and
regulations WILL apply.
DRIVER ENTRY
-
Driver MUST be at least 18
years old.
-
Driver MUST furnish his/her
own car OR HAVE SOMEONE SPONSOR HIS/HER CAR.
-
American cars or station wagons are
allowed. NO jeeps, trucks, carryalls, convertibles,
ambulances, Imperials, etc.
-
Drivers, co-drivers and pitmen MUST
sign a release form prior to race time.
PARTICIPATION REGULATIONS
-
Drivers may maneuver forward or backward.
-
NO deliberate head-ons or
hitting opponents drivers door or passenger side door.
-
If driver does not hit another car within
ONE minute, that driver shall be disqualified. DO NOT play
"possum". NO team driving.
-
Driver and passenger MUST remain
in car, with helmets on, until heat is over and they are outside of arena.
-
All drivers, co-drivers and pitmen
MUST attend the Pit Meeting prior to the Derby. Time will be
approximately 5:30 p.m.
-
After the Pit Meeting, any questions
concerning the Derby may be brought forth by DRIVER ONLY. Harassment
of the help by pitmen, etc., will not be tolerated and will be cause for
disqualification. Pitmen's behavior will be the responsibility of the
DRIVER.

Decision of the Judges is final on
winners and disqualifications.

As soon as the first heat is on the
track, the second heat cars MUST be lined up at the gate, etc. Cars
not lined up immediately will not get into the heat. This is the
responsibility of the DRIVER & PIT CREW.

Heat winners will be lined up along the
fence until after the consolation heat, when all drivers can then work on
their cars. NO LOOKING OR WORKING on the cars during the "Quarantine
Period".

Video tapes are not allowed to be used to
contest Judges decision.

All persons under the age of 18 will not
be allowed in the pit area under the penalty of disqualification. All pit
personnel must have signed the team pit / driver / co-driver team release
form.
-
No camping in pit area.
HEATS
-
Depending upon the number of cars, the
number of heats to be run shall be determined by the officials prior
to the Demolition Derby.
ENTRY FEE
-
Each car shall pay $30.00 entry fee. ALL
DRIVERS AND PITMEN MUST PAY $5.00 EACH. All drivers and pitmen
MUST sign the insurance release form prior to the demolition derby. The
release form will be located at the pit entry gate.

All drivers, co-drivers, and pitmen must
be signed up prior to drivers meeting. NO EXCEPTIONS.
PREPARATION OF CARS
-
Slogans, advertising, or painting my be
placed anywhere on the car. Put driver's name and car # on both front doors
in large, bold print. Roof number must be visible. NO VULGARITY.
-
Radiators and fans may be removed but
NOT relocated. Transmission coolers can be relocated from radiator to
a location in front of the front axle. Batteries may be relocated to a more
secure position. Bumpers and fenders may be trimmed. Driver's and passenger
door MUST be reinforced, if running with passenger. 2a.
Reinforcement of side shall begin at the center of the car and not extend
into the front wheel well. Reinforcement material shall not protrude from
car body more than 1 1/2 inches.

ALL GLASS, PLASTIC AND CHROME TRIM
must be removed before reaching the fairgrounds. Doors & trunk must be free
of all glass, plastic and chrome items.

Maximum of 5 gallons of gas in tank. Gas
tank must be
REMOVED AND RELOCATED in the back seat, properly secured and covered.
-
No special bumpers, extra weights,
trailer hitches, locked rear ends, special lifts, blocks, shackles, or any
reinforcements (other than doors) will be permitted.
-
All doors and wagon gates MUST be
strapped, wired, or welded shut or you will be disqualified. All auto body
parts MUST be in stock location.
-
Safety belts and helmets are required.
-
NO DRIVER OR PITMEN UNDER THE
INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OR DANGEROUS DRUGS will be allowed to
participate or enter the fairgrounds.
-
Inspection of cars will be made by the
derby officials prior to the derby. Their decision will be final.
-
Carburetors must be accessible, by either
a hole in the hood or removable cover.
-
All trunks MUST be empty of debris, junk,
spare tire, etc.
-
All batteries and gas tanks must be
covered with rubber or plastic to avoid punctures and spills.
-
Tires must be DOT approved. NO
ag tires or ag treads on DOT tires.
-
All cars and trucks need to be inspected
PRIOR TO the driver's meeting.
REMOVAL OF CARS
Each driver MUST arrange for removal of
their car within 24 hours, or they will be towed away at owners expense.
