Oct. 2006 Searches

Oct. 19, 2006                                          Jackass Loop

Twenty Fremont Rescue members and one search dog responded to Jackass Loop to search for an elderly, out-of-state, overdue hunter with known health issues. The first team of search members to the area set out on foot with the search dog, heading to the reported location of the downed elk that the missing persons party had shot.

As more members arrived, a second team of search members located him and returned him to his campsite.

Weather conditions were unfavorable with snow, wind and rain hindering visibility.

 Oct. 28, 2006                                         Sadoras Hill

Fourteen Fremont County Search and Rescue members went looking for a sixteen year old boy who was separated from his party while deer hunting. After realizing he was lost, he contacted the sheriff's office using his cell phone. Search Members made contact with him just as his battery went dead, for his approximate location.

6 members headed out on foot and established contact by firing shots in the air. After 3 1/2 hours, and 3 miles of hiking through steep terrain, the youth was located and returned back to his parents.

The rescue members also assisted in retrieving one of the parties deer out of the woods.
